VICTORIAN MULTICULTURAL COMMISSION: FESTIVAL AND EVENTS GRANTS 2010 - 2011

Judy Maddigan MLA for Essendon is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Victorian Multicultural Commission's Festival and Events Grants program for 2010 - 2011.

"Essendon is a vibrant, multicultural community and I encourage all community organisations to consider applying for a grant to support their multicultural events this year." Ms Maddigan said.

Grants are available for festivals, conferences and events held between July 2010 and January 2011 that promote inclusive communities and demonstrate Victoria's rich multicultural heritage.

"Multiculturalism needs the support of our community members to flourish and I look forward to the events that will be held in our electorate throughout the year." Ms Maddigan said.

Events fostering community participation with a focus on cross-cultural exchange as well as raising awareness and celebrating cultural diversity, respect and understanding will be given priority consideration for these grants.

Applicants can expect to be notified of the outcome of their application in June of this year.

"Few places in Victoria can rival the multicultural feel of Essendon and I look forward to the celebration and promotion of the diverse cultural heritage of our area." Ms Maddigan said
