Judy Maddigan MLA Essendon has sought funding for the Strathmore Bowls Club in parliament this week.
The Community Facility Funding Programme will be announced next month, and Judy has thrown her support behind the application from the Strathmore Bowls Club for funding for a synthetic green.
"Synthetic greens have two strong advantages over grass greens" she said "Obviously there is a saving of water..they are drought resistant! Secondly bowls clubs are much better off financially as they don't have the same costs necessary for the upkeep of the greens.
"Some clubs pay around $1000 per month for green keeping fees so the installation of synthetic greens are a huge saving for the clubs."
Moonee Valley Council has listed this project as a high priority in its application to the State Government.
"Strathmore Bowls Club has a long history in this area, and I am very hopeful that their application for $60,000 will be successful" said Judy.
