LOCAL HERITAGE GRANTS OPEN

Judy Maddigan MP, Member for Essendon, is pleased to announce the 2008 round of Victoria's Heritage Grants are now open.

The 2008-09 grants are part of the Brumby Government's $20.5 million, four-year heritage strategy Victoria's Heritage: Strengthening our communities, being implemented by Heritage Victoria.

Councils and communities may apply for grants in the following categories:

"I encourage local local groups to make the most of this opportunity to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding about heritage in our community." Mrs Maddigan said.

"This grants programme assists the preservation of Essendon Electorate's very rich heritage for future generations." She said.

For the first time, grant applications can this year be submitted online at www.heritage.vic.gov.au, as well as by post or email.

Applications close on Thursday, 24 July 2008.
