LOCAL SPORTS UNIFORM GRANTS

Three local sporting organisations are beneficiaries of the first round of funding from the Bracks Government $1.5 million Our Club, Our Future Sporting Uniform Grants Program, Judy Maddigan MP, Member for Essendon, announced today.

"The Bracks Government strongly supports a wide range of grassroots sports and this program's priority has been junior clubs, and clubs from disadvantaged areas." Mrs Maddigan said. "Uniforms are an important part of local sports culture and they help establish identity and sense of team pride."

The following groups received funding in this round:

• Strathmore Unicorns Basketball Club - Strathmore Unicorns Basketball Club $950.00

• Keilor St Bernards Athletic Club - Training and Competition Shirts $1,000.00

• Essendon District Football League Umpires Assoc - Junior Umpires Uniform Funding $1,000.00

A second round of funding is still available for application by September 2007.
