Judy Maddigan MP, Member for Essendon today congratulated 11 schools in Essendon for participating in Victoria's Waste Wise Schools Program which has won a major Australian environmental award.
The Waste Wise Schools Program has won the National Globe Energy Award for achieving waste reduction and water savings.
"Students have gained environmental knowledge which can be applied at home now, and throughout their lives. Hopefully their families will also be inspired to become involved in saving water and minimising waste" Mrs Maddigan said.

Aberfeldie Primary SchoolThe Waste Wise Schools program is one of three finalists for the world-wide Globe Energy International Award to be announced soon. This is the first time Australia will have a finalist in the award which received 732 entries throughout the world.
Victoria's Waste Wise Schools program is funded by the Bracks Government through Sustainability Victoria. It is managed by the Gould League and Sustainability Victoria in partnership with education and environmental groups. More than 1100 Victorian schools participated in the programme.
