Judy Maddigan MP, Member for Essendon has announced that Moonee Valley Council has received $50,000 towards a drought relief project through the Bracks Government's $4.7 million Drought Relief for Community Sport and Recreation Program.
The $50,000 grant will enable the City of Moonee Valley to drill two investigative bores within the municipality to assess ground water quality with the aim of securing safe and accessible water sources for sports fields.
"Moonee Valley has a long and proud sporting history and it is important that solutions are found to ensure grassroots sport remains a strong and integral part of our community for generations to come." Mrs Maddigan said.
