FREE BUSES FOR DAWN SERVICE

Judy Maddigan MLA for Essendon, is pleased to advise that the Victorian Government in association with the Bus Association of Victoria will again provide a free bus service that will run from Windy Hill (Essendon Football Ground) to the Shrine of Remembrance for the Dawn Service.

"The free bus service is to assist those Returned Services personnel, their families and members of the public who are otherwise unable to get to the Shrine of Remembrance to attend the Service," Mrs Maddigan said.

This year a low-floor, wheelchair accessible bus will depart from Essendon Football Ground (Napier Street entrance) at 4.55am and will arrive at the Shrine by 5.40am for 6.00am Dawn Service. It will leave the Shrine at 7.30am for the return journey to Windy Hill.

While the service is available to members of the public, Returned Services Personnel and their families will receive priority with seat bookings.

If residents would like to book a seat they should phone Ventura Charter on 9725-9146 between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. As numbers are limited pre-booking of seats is required, to access this service.

Bookings close Monday , 23 April 2007

In addition to this service, veterans and war widows will again be entitled to free travel on Victorian public transport on 24, 25 and 26 April.

To qualify for the free travel, veterans need to wear their uniforms or service medals, an ex association or returned from active service or war widows badge, or present their DVA Gold or White card.
